MALMÖ, Sweden – November 17, 2009 – Planeto (www.planeto.com) today unveiled the first details of its upcoming social online game: Planeto Quiz. Heralded as the world’s first Massively Multiplayer Online Quiz (MMOQ), the game is first to combine elements of online role-playing games such as World of Warcraft® and Lord of the Rings Online® with the accessibility and instant thrill of traditional quiz games.
Planeto provides an exciting quiz experience unlike anything before it. For the many millions of quiz fans around the world, Planeto Quiz offers a completely unique experience that is very easy to learn but hard to master. Players can decide take on quiz challenges alone – playing against the game itself – or together with their friends in the many different multiplayer modes available.
“With Planeto Quiz we decided to take the most fun and popular aspects of online role-playing games, but package them for a global, casual audience. In our game there is no need to run around wielding a sword and killing orcs,” said Martin Walfisz, founder of Planeto. “World of Warcraft and similar games are great fun but mainly cater to a niche audience interested in fantasy role-playing. Planeto Quiz gives our players the same depth, but in a much more accessible and inclusive environment.”
Planeto Quiz is a free-to-play service and will initially be available as a web game, and eventually for mobile platforms and consoles. Players can decide to play without creating an account, or login with their Facebook®, MySpace®, Google® or OpenID® account, as well as create their own unique Planeto account. Planeto Quiz is designed to be available to everyone – male and female, young and old – across the globe.
When first joining Planeto Quiz players create an Avatar – an online persona – which is used throughout the game to convey player progression as each player levels up and advances his or her standing in the Planeto community. Answering questions correctly gives each player a chance to receive items, equipment and action cards that can be used to further enhance the quiz experience. For example, wearing different clothing equipment, such as ‘Shoes of Sports’, might increase the chance of getting Sports questions. Actions cards, such as ‘Plenty-of-Time’ increases the time available to answer a specific question, whereas a ‘Cash Piñata’ action card gives the player extra coins when answering correctly.
Planeto Quiz dramatically enhances the traditional quiz experience, giving players a unique, tremendously fun and long-lasting game experience. In addition, Planeto Quiz also inherently provides a great learning platform to all its users. There has never been a better way to have fun and learn new things at the same time.
