BETA INSTRUCTIONS

First of all: thank you for your interest in helping us improve the Planeto Quiz experience! Your help and feedback is much appreciated!

We are currently extending the Planeto Beta to a small selection of trusted friends and testers. However, please know that the game is still very rough and limited, and it is very far from the final experience — for example: at this time only the most basic single-player mode is enabled for beta testers. The game is also – at times – very buggy. But still – a lot of us find it fun to play already, and we would love for you to share the fun and provide us with feedback on how we can improve and extend the experience.

So without further ado, here are some brief instructions on how to get started playing Planeto Quiz. If you have any questions, suggestions or bug reports, please help us by posting a message on our forums: http://forum.planeto.com/.

STARTING THE GAME

Please note that to play the current Planeto Quiz Beta you will need a Facebook account. If you don’t already have one, you can easily create a free account here: http://www.facebook.com/.

To start Planeto Quiz just point your favorite browser to http://beta.planeto.com/. Read through the Terms of Service, click the “I accept the Planeto Terms of Service” checkbox, and then click Continue.

If you’re not already logged in to Facebook, you will be asked to do so. If you are playing for the first time, you will be prompted to provide your unique Planeto Beta Invite code.

Please note that if you do not have an invite code, you will not be able to play Planeto Beta at this time.

KNOWN PROBLEM: Sometimes when your browser starts loading the game, it will stop on the Planeto Loading screen. If the game doesn’t load within 15-20 seconds, please reload the page in your browser. This usually solves the problem.

THE MAIN GAME EXPERIENCE

When you start the game a lot of different game components will appear. Initially you can just focus on the center area where all questions and answer alternatives are displayed. To play the game, just read the question and click the answer you believe is correct. The orange timer in the upper right corner shows you how much time you have left to answer. You can change your answer at any time within the time limit.

While playing the game you will notice that you receive points each time you answer correctly. The points accumulate and as you gain score your level will increase continuously. The higher the level you have, the more points you need to reach the next level. Every time you reach a new level you will receive 100 Gold coins.

(Please note that the country and team settings currently cannot be changed.)

Every time you answer a question correctly there is a chance that the game will give you an item. By answering several questions correctly in a row, you will increase your STREAK.  The higher streak you have, the higher your chance to receive items.

ITEMS

Every time you receive items the INVENTORY SCREEN will open. To pick up a received item you must Drag-and-Drop the item to your Inventory (center of the screen), Action Bar (at the bottom) or to an Avatar Slot (on the right side).

All items can be placed in the Inventory (if there is room) but only Action Cards can be placed in the Action Bar, and only Wearable items can be placed in an Avatar Slot. To throw away an item, just Drag-and-Drop it to the trash can at the bottom.

Wearable items give you different bonuses that are always active as long as the item is placed in the designated Avatar Slot.

Action Cards can be activated by clicking on the desired Card when placed in the Action Bar.

USING ACTIONS

The Action Bar allows you to trigger different game actions by clicking on the specific Action Card. The first three buttons on the left are fixed and provide you with different benefits:

• Remove one of the wrong answer alternatives. Cost: 10 gold.
• Remove two of the wrong answer alternatives. Cost: 30 gold.
• Fast forward your answer to avoid waiting for the timer to reach zero. Cost: 1 gold.

The other slots on the Action Bar can be filled with Action Cards that you receive while playing the game. Please remember that you need to Drag-and-Drop Action Cards from your Inventory to the Action Bar in order to make them available for use.

THE FRIENDS LIST

The Friends List on the right side shows all your Facebook friends that participate in the Planeto Beta. Friends that are currently online playing the game have a green dot next to their name. In the future you will be able to chat with your friends and challenge them in different multiplayer modes.

Tip: Don’t hesitate to click the different Tab Icons on the top and see what information hides behind them.

BADGES AND UPDATES

As you play the game you will continuously be prompted when you accomplish new achievements such as reaching a new level or a long streak of correct answers. Some of these achievements can be posted on your Facebook news feed by clicking Publish when the Facebook window opens. In other words, please never hesitate to brag about your Planeto achievements!

LEAVING THE GAME

To stop playing the game you can just close your browser at any time. All your results are automatically saved for your next play session. However, if you want to keep your current streak (i.e. number of correct answers in a row), you need to PAUSE the game before you close down your browser. The pause button can be found just below the orange countdown timer. Clicking the button will pause the game after the current question is over.
