BETA UPDATE – OCTOBER 25, 2011

Some  bugfixes deployed today.

• BUGFIX: Log in with Facebook could sometimes hang on the XD Proxy popup window. This should now be fixed.
• BUGFIX: Leaderboard Average  Time for Correct Answer statistic should now be correct for all players.

BETA UPDATE – OCTOBER 12, 2011

Upon your request we have added a feature that let you ignore players in chat and multi-player rooms. Just click on the name of a player and select the IGNORE option. No more messages will be displayed from that user. They can still see your messages though!

• FEATURE: Added ability to ignore a player in chat and multi-player rooms.
• FEATURE: Added Global chat where all online player can chat and interact!
• BUGFIX: Fixed problem with Facebook login when the game was installed in Google Chrome.
• BUGFIX: Fixed game freeze problems. If you still having problems, please start the game with http://play.planeto.com?unfreeze and click the UNFREEZE button if/when the game gets stuck. This will help us identify what the underlying cause of the problem is.

BETA UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 16, 2011

It’s been a while since our previous update, but we have some nice stuff in the works to be released later in the fall. In the meantime, this deploy introduces the Quiz Wave as well as some bug fixes. We’ve also done some fun stuff under-the-hood which will be revealed in due time.

• FEATURE: Quiz Wave. Spread some knowledge around the world by sending quizzes to your friends and see how far they get.
• BUGFIX: Fixed a bug where changes to equipment and wearables would not always be saved.
• BUGFIX: Fixed problem with sending email invites.
• BUGFIX: Fixed problems with some celebrity names in the picture quiz.
• IMPORTANT: We have some problems where the game freezes unexpectedly during a game session. If you encounter this regularly, please start the game with http://play.planeto.com?unfreeze and click the UNFREEZE button if/when the game gets stuck. This will help us identify what the underlying cause of the problem is.

BETA UPDATE – MAY 17, 2011

Today is the Norwegian Constitution Day. And to celebrate our friendly neighbors in the west, we bring you a new deploy!

• IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We have updated our Facebook Application permissions. Therefore all existing users will be asked to again allow the Planeto app to access your Facebook information. This is only required the first time you log in to Planeto after this deploy.
• FEATURE: Anyone can now log in with a Google account.
• FEATURE: Mastery Points. Every time you level up you receive Mastery points that can be placed on the different categories, to increase the chance of getting questions in a specific category.

BETA UPDATE – MARCH 14, 2011

Today we have some more multiplayer goodness for you — check out the new Picture Quiz mode!

• FEATURE: PICTURE QUIZ. Answer questions correctly to uncover the hidden picture. The player to first guess the underlying motif wins the round.
• FEATURE: Now you can set the text color when creating a Quiz Widget. This makes it easier to use different background images and still ensure that the text is visible.
• FEATURE: You can now see if there are any multiplayer game rooms waiting for more players to join.
• FEATURE: When you log in you can now immediately see how many friends are currently online.

BETA UPDATE – FEBRUARY 25, 2011

As the saying goes, three’s a crowd… and what a great crowd at that! We are today introducing different multiplayer modes — come, join the fray!

• FEATURE: QUIZ RACE. You can now race against other players in the ultimate competitive challenge. Start Planeto, select Multiplayer / Quiz Race, and make sure you cross the finish line first!
• FEATURE: HOT SEAT. Play together in this exciting multiplayer mode. Each participating player takes a turn in the hot seat. If you answer correctly, every participant scores. If you answer incorrectly, no one scores. Use the chat to help each other determine the correct answer.
• FEATURE: To support our new and upcoming game modes, we’ve introduced a new start page. When you launch Planeto you can now select what mode you want to start, instead of jumping directly into the Infinite Quiz mode.
• FEATURE: If you send a quiz to a friend, you will now get feedback in the login notifications when that friend has played the question set.
• BALANCE: We’ve nerfed the amount of items received when you play Infinite Quiz.

BETA UPDATE – FEBRUARY 17, 2011

All quiz fanatics rejoice, a new deploy is here!

• FEATURE: The Daily Quiz email now contains leaderboards, comparing your latest and weekly result to your friends. To get the daily (or weekly) quiz, just submit your email and configure your quiz subscription in the User Settings.
• FEATURE: You can now configure the Quiz Widget size and other settings when creating a widget. Just go to Planeto Creator and start creating. You can check out a live example of how it looks here: http://jardenberg.se.
• FEATURE: We’ve added a bunch of new quests for your gaming pleasure.
• FEATURE: When uploading a picture to Planeto, we’ve now added fields so that you can give proper attribution to the picture creator. This is, for example, very useful when using pictures that use CC-BY license.
• FEATURE: When you share a quiz with your friends, you can now pick an optional reward.
• FEATURE: We’re preparing a bunch of new Multiplayer game modes and have done some changes to the GUI accordingly. (Hint: If you start Planeto with “?hotseat” and select the top multiplayer button, you can get a sneak peek of our upcoming Hot Seat cooperative mode.)
• BUG: Fixed a problem where some players got the same questions repeated very often.
• BUG: When trying to play Planeto with an old browser, an “Incompatible Browser” message is now properly shown.

BETA UPDATE – JANUARY 17, 2011

Fantastic news! A new deploy has arrived!

• FEATURE: The Planeto Daily Quiz. Just submit your email and configure your quiz subscription in the User Settings, and we will send you a nice, relevant quiz, every day or once a week.
• FEATURE: We’ve updated how treasure is received. Items are now dropped on the right side of the quiz area, and there is no longer any need to open the treasure bag to take your rewards.
• FEATURE: When you complete a Question Set or Personality Quiz, you can now select any one of your friends to directly share the quiz with.
• FEATURE: Quiz Banner Widget. When you create a quiz in the Planeto Creator, you can now create a Widget Link to get HTML-code that you can paste into your own web site or blog. Check out http://planeto.com for an example of how it looks.
• FEATURE: The chat functionality has been polished and improved. If you have a chat room open, you can start a chat message by just typing on your keyboard. What you write will go straight to the chat input field.
• OTHER: Planeto is now part of the Applifier advertising network. Don’t hesitate to check out the other games that Applifier promote.
• ART: Some nice art polish and changes. The countdown timer has moved to the left side to clear up the play field and quiz area.
• BUGFIX: Plenty of small bugfixes all-over.

• FEATURE: Anyone can now create Question Sets. Go to http://create.planeto.com and let your creativity flow!
• FEATURE: Each Question Set now has a Leaderboard.
• FEATURE: The start screen for Questions Sets will now show how many players have completed that set.
• FEATURE: When connecting to Planeto to start a Question Set, the login screen will show the that a set is loading.

A new deploy has arrived! Introducing Question Sets and Instant Play. Hope you like it!

• FEATURE: You can now play as a Guest without first logging in to Facebook.
• FEATURE: Question Sets are now available, allowing a player to answer a set number of questions on a specific topic.
• FEATURE: Question Sets can now be received as items in a Treasure Bag.
• FEATURE: When completing a Question Set, the player’s stats for that question set is shown.
• FEATURE: 60 000 new items have been generated, allowing for a much bigger diversity in treasures received.
• ART: Upgraded the look and feel of tooltips.
• BUGFIX: Changed mousedown to click on buttons to prevent popup blocking in IE.
• OTHER: If treasure bag is empty “Discard all” and “Take all” is dimmed and not possible to click.
• OTHER: You can now click the title in Quests to expand and contract more info.

BETA UPDATE – OCTOBER 15, 2010

A new deploy is coming shortly. Adding 6 000 new English questions and introducing Team Score and Team Leaderboard.

• OTHER: 6 000 new English questions added (for a total of 14 000).
• FEATURE: Teams now gain a Team Score (based on number of correct answers from primary team members) and can compare their stats in the Team Leaderboard (available from the Leaderboard menu). The Team Score is reset every Monday at noon (CET).
• FEATURE: Clicking the Play Planeto link on a logout Facebook post will give the player who clicked a reward.
• FEATURE: Posting any Facebook post will now reward the player 10% of the current session’s total score on next login.
• FEATURE: Login Notifications are now displayed in the welcome message box.
• FEATURE: Logout session summary now contains additional information.
• BUGFIX: A player can’t kick him/her self from a team anymore.
• BUGFIX: Chat list now properly changes when people join and leave a chat room.
• ART: Right-side menu art & style polish.
• TECH: Rsync is now used when uploading files to server (to speed up deploy process).

• FEATURE: It is now possible to get, accept, complete and fail Quiz Quests.

• BUGFIX: Logging out from old sessions by creating a new one should now properly disassemble the old session.

• FEATURE: The Daily Jackpot login nofication now also shows total jackpot value.
• FEATURE: Global Messages (if any are available) are now displayed when users login.
• FEATURE: A player who has invited a friend through the invitation system will receive 50 gold when the friend reaches level 5.
• FEATURE: It is now possible to buy more inventory space.
• FEATURE: Players can now get Collectible items as treasure.
• BALANCE: Updated treasure drop formula. Now players receive fewer treasure bags and items.
• ART: Icons for question categories History, Arts & Literature, and Entertainment have been changed.

• FEATURE: You can now filter the Leaderboard according to City and Country.

• FEATURE: You can now invite your friends by posting to your Facebook wall or sending a personal email.
• FEATURE: If you have any important individual Login Notifications they are now shown every time you log in.
• FEATURE: Posting your session summary to Facebook when logging out now gives you a 10% session score reward the next time you log in.
• FEATURE: We’ve now added a button to bookmark Planeto on Facebook.
• FEATURE: Jackpots are now published to the update feed.
• BUGFIX: Jackpot size is now displayed right before there is a chance to win it (on streak 5, 10, 15, …).

IMPORTANT: With todays deploy we have removed the invitation system. Anyone who wants to play Planeto Quiz can now access the game at http://beta.planeto.com/ — in other words, there is no longer any need for a unique invitation code. Don’t hesitate to tell all your friends!

BETA UPDATE – AUGUST 10, 2010

We’ve just deployed a new update. Most of the changes are done under-the-hood, to prepare for our upcoming Open Beta. But we’ve also taken a few days to go over and polish the art direction, ensuring that all graphics should now be a lot more coherent. This deploy also includes some balancing changes and gameplay tweaks.

Please note: we’ve identified a problem with the invitation system. If you try to send an invite, you might need to re-login and try a few times before it works. (This is due to our automatic horizontal server scaling system — depending on what server you are logged in to, the invitation system sometimes fails.)

BETA UPDATE – JULY 8, 2010

Here’s a new update!

* Treasure Bags – Items are now received in a bundle, which decreases pop-ups during the game. When you receive new items they are found in a “treasure bag” dropped in the right-side message queue. Click the bag to check out the items.

* Click Function – Now you take and use items by clicking on them — just click the item and choose which option to use. This was implemented to better support touch/mobile platforms that don’t support drag-and-drop.

* More Inventory Space – Items that are placed in the Action Bar will no longer take up space in the regular inventory — which means more space for new items — yay!

* Equipped Wearables View – Your equipped avatar is now placed to the left by your profile picture.

* Game Balance – We’ve tweaked the game mechanics. The time and points cost for levelling is now decreased and the game should feel more balanced.

We’ve done some bug fixing and performance improvements as well. Visit our blog for more details about the latest improvements!

Right now most of the team is focusing on under-the-hood improvements to prepare for our Open Beta launch later in the summer.

BETA UPDATE – JUNE 15, 2010

We’ve got some new updates!

Skip Question – You can now skip a question that you find difficult AND keep your streak. It will cost you some gold but might be worth it to get those high streaker medals!

Random Double or Triple Score – Some randomly chosen questions will give you double or triple score if you answer them correctly.

Compare Wearables – When you receive an item that you are already wearing, the game will automatically compare the two items when hovering over the new item.

Additional English Questions – We’ve added 2000 new English questions

Additional Language Channels – We’ve added French and German questions

Friendlist – The game will automatically know if a player is online, idle or offline. All online friends will be filtered into one column to make a duel easier.

Autobreak – The game will autobreak after 10 questions, giving you the opportunity to think, re-arrange among your inventory etc.

BETA UPDATE – MAY 25, 2010

A new version is now deployed. The Leaderboard has been optimized and is now available in the top menu again. You can now also left-click your friends in the Update Feed to Chat, Challenge or View their profile.

We’ve just deployed a small update that will hopefully improve overall in-game performance. The Leaderboard has also been disabled temporarily — with all the new users coming in it was taxing the database server too much. We’re working to fix that and additional performance issues. Stay tuned.
